Monster Truck Crashes into Crowd During Show, Killing 3 and Injuring Dozens

A high-energy monster truck show turned into a nightmare in Colombia after a driver lost control and plowed straight into a crowd of spectators, leaving at least three people dead and dozens more injured.

The terrifying incident unfolded in the city of Popayán, where fans had gathered to watch the event. Video from the scene shows the massive truck bouncing over a line of scrap metal during a stunt before suddenly veering off course.

Within seconds, chaos erupted.

The truck barreled toward the crowd, sending people scrambling and screaming as it slammed into spectators. Witnesses say the driver appeared to lose control after landing from a jump, with the vehicle continuing forward and crashing into a light pole.

Emergency crews rushed to the scene as bystanders tried to help the injured. A child was pronounced dead at the scene, and two more victims later died at local hospitals. Authorities say at least 38 people were hurt and taken to medical centers across the city.

Officials have not yet released the identities of those killed.

Popayán Mayor Juan Carlos Muñoz Bravo called the incident heartbreaking and vowed a full investigation.

“We’re deeply saddened by this accident,” he said in a statement, adding that all available resources are being used to support victims and their families. “This should never have happened.”

The shocking crash has sparked renewed concerns about safety at live stunt events, especially those involving heavy vehicles and large crowds.

Sadly, this isn’t the first time something like this has happened. Similar tragedies at monster truck shows in the past have raised questions about whether enough is being done to protect spectators from these powerful machines.
